The Senior Statutory Accountant is responsible for the complete management, execution, and control of the local statutory and tax accounting workflows for the legal entity in Ukraine in strict compliance with national legislation and tax codes. The primary focus of this role is to minimize tax and regulatory risks, maintain rigorous control over primary documentation, and ensure seamless synchronization of local financial data with the corporate managerial accounting architecture
Сore responsibilities
Statutory & Tax Accounting
Manage the full-cycle local accounting processes within the ERP framework in compliance with the National Accounting Standards of Ukraine (NASU).
Prepare and ensure timely submission of all statutory, financial, tax, and statistical reporting (including Corporate Income Tax, VAT, payroll taxes, and environmental taxes).
Accurately calculate and oversee the punctual settlement of all corporate tax liabilities.
Continuously monitor changes in Ukrainian tax legislation and proactively adapt the legal entity's accounting policies.
VAT Administration & Reimbursement
Enforce rigorous VAT management protocols, controlling input tax credit and output tax liabilities.
Ensure the timely registration of tax invoices and correction coefficients within the Unified Register of Tax Invoices (ERPN).
Compile comprehensive documentation packages, conduct data analytics, and lead the process for statutory budgetary VAT refund/reimbursement (a priority for import/export and defense tech operations).
Systematically monitor and mitigate risks associated with the blocking of tax invoices under the SM KOR criteria, executing rapid unblocking procedures when necessary.
Primary Documentation & Electronic Data Interchange (EDI)
Implement and enforce strict regulations for the collection, verification, reconciliation, and archiving of primary accounting documents from all corporate counterparties.
Administer and optimize electronic document management workflows using specialized platforms such as M.E.Doc and Vchasno.
Manage accounts receivable and accounts payable sub-ledgers within local accounting, conducting regular balance reconciliations (acts of reconciliation) with key suppliers and vendors.
Cross-functional Collaboration & Audit Management
Collaborate closely with the Corporate Finance Controller and Country Finance Lead to provide verified, reconciled local financial figures for further transformation and consolidation into corporate IFRS/GAAP reports.
Ensure methodological consistency and conduct regular data reconciliations between the local accounting database (ERP) and the corporate ERP system.
Lead and facilitate statutory tax audits and interactions with the State Tax Service of Ukraine (STS), providing formal explanations, preparing responses to inquiries, and defending the company's financial interests.
3. Key Requirements
Experience: 5+ years of experience as a Chief Accountant, Deputy Chief Accountant, or Senior Statutory Accountant. Experience in manufacturing, international trade (import/export), or the defense tech sector is a critical advantage.
Expertise: Deep, up-to-date knowledge of the Tax Code of Ukraine, National Accounting Standards (NASU), and local labor legislation.
VAT Mastery: Proven hands-on track record of successfully managing budgetary VAT reimbursement processes and executing tax invoice unblocking procedures.
Software Proficiency: Expert-level command of ERP software frameworks, M.E.Doc, the Electronic Cabinet of the Taxpayer, and various client-bank applications.
Cross-functional Skills: Understanding the principles of transforming statutory data into managerial data (IFRS) and experience with corporate ERP platforms.
Attributes: High degree of autonomy, extreme precision in documentation, strong analytical thinking, and the ability to articulate and defend accounting positions with rigorous legal arguments.
Languages: Fluency in Ukrainian and professional working proficiency in English.
